Recruitment of participants for a study
=======================================

1. Log in to Castellum by using your username and password

2. Click on **Recruitment** 
   
   2.1 If you see the message **There are currently no studies you can recruit
   for** (or you do not find a certain study you are supposed to recruit for),
   please follow instruction 2.2.
   -   If you see the relevant study, go to step 3. 
   2.2 Contact the responsible person who has access to the role distribution
   of the study you wish to recruit for
3. Click on **Recruit subjects** next to the study you want to recruit

4. By clicking on **Add**, relevant probands will be shown to you
5. Press the **Contact** button to contact the person you want to reach

   -  **E-Mail**, **Phone number**, a potential **Phone number alternative**
      and the **Address** will be shown to you in the tab **Contacting details**

   -  You might also see the **Preferred contact method**, if the person
      is **Currently available** and some **General recruiting notes**

   -  Please have a look at the **Talking points** that the study
      coordinator has defined
6. Contact the potential subject using the specified method

7. Select a **Status of participation request**

   -  Choose between:

   1. **not reached**
   2. **unsuitable**

      -  This may apply if attributes of the person do not comply with
         the requirements of the study

   3. **invited**
   4. **follow-up scheduled**

      -  Determine the date and time of the recall appointment below
   5. **awaiting response**
   
      -  This may apply if you sent an e-mail to the person or if you left a
         message on the answering machine

   -  When you select the **Status of participant request** and click on
      **Save and show next**, the next contact person will be shown to
      you automatically

Editing contact data and attributes; adding probands to the study
------------------------------------------------------------------

-  Click on **Edit contact data** in order to do so and press **Save**
-  By clicking **Edit attributes**, you can change characteristics of the
   person that became known in the conversation
-  When you press **Edit subject**, you can determine the **Privacy level**
-  Settle the time-based **Availability** of the person
-  Press **Save** to record the progress

Approve subjects for deletion
------------------------------
-  If you want personal data and subjects to be completely deleted,
   because of one or more of the next reasons:
   - the subjects either requested it,
   - it no longer makes sense to keep them in the database,
   - thay cannot be reached due to incorrect or missing contact data or
   - there is no consent,
   proceed as follows:
1. Log in to Castellum by using your username and password
2. Click on **Subjects** on the front page
3. Write in the empty fields first name and surname of the subject to be
   deleted and press **Submit**
4. Click on **Details** and then **Subject** on the horizontal line
5. Check the box **To be deletd** under **Operational hints**
6. Press **Save** at the very bottom
    -  The subject is now cleared for deletion from the database and deletion of
    its associated data
-  Please note that there may still be data stored in the backup even though
   the person was deleted from Castellum
